Welcome Sadie Ysabel!!!!!

Sorry it has taken a while for me to update but for those that do not know last week was a long one with a fantastic outcome!  So the short and sweet version of labor for Sadie goes something like this...we went in at midnight on the 14th.  We started inducing as soon as I got there after 26 hours of labor she had decided that she was still not ready to come out, so we had a c-section, and Sadie was born @ 2:04a.m. February 16, 2011 weighing 8.01 lbs and 19.5 inches long.

Since making her appearance she has been a busy girl, meeting her new family and friends.  Here are some pictures so you can see somewhat of a timeline leading up to Sadie's debut into the world.

Sadie is perfect and we are loving the new addition to our lives.  I can't wait for everyone to meet our little angel. She is definitely the spitting image of her father...lol!

Only 4 more days.....

So for those that do not know yet, we are inducing on February 15, 2011.  I am so excited to finally get to meet our little girl.  She is going to be a day after Valentine's Day baby!  So we are running around doing last minute things getting prepared for her arrival.  I have some pics of her nursery so everyone can see the finished results.

So we wanted a simple, realxing environment and we are very happy with the results.  I can't wait to have her here and begin our lives as a family.
As for the 15th, I am going to try to keep everyone updated on the progress and get pictures posted as soon as possible.  We will be delivering at Slidell Memorial Hospital, and I am not opposed to visitors.  Since I have been asked that by a couple of different people.  I look forward to posting the first pics of our little Sadie.

37 weeks

So after a disappointing doctors appointment yesterday, Sadie has decided to camp out for a little longer.  We are still hopeful that if she doesn't come on her own she will be born on Valentine's Day with a little help from the doctor.  I can honestly say that I am ready to meet our little girl.  People have been asking to see pictures of me so I will obliged with one picture.  I did not realize how big she makes me look...lol.

As James would say there is alot of baby in there...lol.  Oh well, only 12 more days...hopefully.

James has been busy finishing the kitchen.  Thanks to a help from my mom and his dad the backsplash is finished and the hood has been installed.  After the painting of the beam has been completed we will be able to put the surround on the body of the hood to finish the look.  The cabinets are going to have to wait but we have a working kitchen that is definitely a huge improvement from where we started.  Here are some pics to show you...

36 weeks

Sorry I haven't updated in a while, but we have been busy.  The kitchen has been coming along nicely, hopefully by the end of this weekend we will be finished excluding the cabinet staining.  Which if not done before Sadie gets here, may be a while.  But we are happy to have a fully working kitchen again and we are very happy with the way things are turning out.  Here are some pics so you can see our progress...

There is still plenty of finishing things that need to be done, but we are keeping our fingers crossed that everything including the hood will be done by the end of this weekend.

Now on to baby news....
So we had a doctor's appt today and my cervix has softened, but still not dialated.  She evidently wants to stay in for a little while longer.  James and I are both anxious to meet her.  The doctor has said that if I do not go into labor on my own, that potentially he will induce on February 14th.  So we may have a Valentine's Day baby if she doesn't decide to come earlier.  I am hoping she comes soon it is definitely getting a little cramped in there...lol.

34 weeks...

So after 3 times of trying, we finally had success with the 4D ultrasound.  Sadie showed her entire face and laid still, while the tech snapped a few pictures of her.  I was so happy that she finally cooperated.

She definitely has some adorable chubby cheeks.  During the ultrasound they estimated her weigh at around 5lbs 5oz.  Which makes me nervous because she still has 6 weeks to grow.  Hopefully she will slow it down a bit.
I had a wonderful shower on Saturday and had a really good time.  I wanted to thank all of my friends and family for putting on the shower, and giving us such amazing gifts.  James and I really appreciate everything, and cannot wait to meet our little girl soon.
The house renovation is still in progress thanks to Lowes.  Evidently we have ordered the first countertop in history to be manufacutured by Lowes and their outsourced company.  Hopefully they will be installing it on Jan. 19th, 2 months after I ordered it.  I am just keeping my fingers crossed that we have a fully operating, finished kitchen by the time Sadie makes her appearance.

31 weeks and ready to grow....

So we had our visit to the 3D/4D ultrasound place on Saturday.  Of course in true fashion, Sadie was semi-cooperative.  At first she did not want to turn over, but when she did there were a few obstacles.  First her feet, then her hands, until finally she decided to snuggle with the placenta and hide. Luckily we have one more shot to get some good pics of her in about a week.  I am trying to be optimistic for the next go round.  I did;  however, get 2 good shots of her perfect little face. Her estimated weight was 3lbs 13oz.  I am hoping that she slows down a little on the growing, which I know is just wishful thinking on my part.

James swears she looks like me, but I guess that is something we will have to wait until February to see.  In the meantime, we are trying to prepare for Christmas this weekend.  Our kitchen project is not quite there yet, but I have been assured that we will have an operating stove by Thursday.  It has definitely been a huge undertaking, but James has been diligent in trying to get it done.  I finally get to put my Christmas tree up tonight and house can have some Christmas cheer for dinner on Saturday.  Here are some before and afters of the kitchen project.

It is coming along and we should have the majority of it ready to go for this weekend.  We are just waiting for one cabinet and the counterops.  Hopefully they will be here on Wednesday and the painting will be finished by Tuesday evening.  Then after this weekend the cabinets will be restained and it will be time for the backsplash, new cabinet hardware, and the final touches.  Our goal is to finish by the end of the year, we will see how successful we are.
James and I wanted to wish everyone a Merry Christmas !!!

Here We Go...28 weeks and counting

So like so many of my friends before, James and I wanted to start a blog to keep everyone that wants to be involved up-to-date on this exciting time in our lives.  Currently we are remodeling the kitchen in our new home and making way for the arrival of our first baby, Sadie Ysabel Downie.  Who will hopefully make her debut on or before February 21, 2011.  James and I are very excited and cannot wait to meet her.  She is very active and kicking up a storm.  Her nursery is almost done, if I could just find the perfect glider.  Here are some pics of her room, which we have taken a break on finishing since we have started the kitchen project...

Our next ultrasound is scheduled for the Dec. 18th so we will get to finally see our little girl in 3D, which is really exciting.  I plan on trying to keep everyone updates, but please bear with me because I am very new to the blog scene.
